Tomb Raider 4 Curiosities:

Alexandria. Weapon Bug. Sender: Zozo

If you go upstairs into the library to Jean-Yves with the shozgun in your hands, it will stay there also after the cut-scene. You won't be able to shoot with it - for this you have to holster and draw it again -, but she will run, climb and swim like in case of the TR3 Weapon Bug.

Race for the Iris: I've got all of the eight golden skulls but I'm on the easy course... so how did I do this? It's simple! Pick up the last skull AFTER Lara have already chosen the easy course and Von Croy opened the door for her. Download

Race for the Iris: If you manage to keep pace ahead of Croy, the master just goes bananas and goes running circles round and round, giving us a great opportunity to take a look around along both paths. How curious he would be finishing the race in spite of this just on time ... :-)Download

Valley of Kings: Bug with the car (Discovered by Jani)

There's a stone-bridge above the abyss (where we'll jump with the jeep at the 21st secret). Go up on foot and kill the white ninja, and then climb down at the other side. Ahmed's car will be waiting for Lara there while it's rotating its wheels to the left and right very heavily (:-D). If You draw weapons, Lara will aim the car (1st save). In the 2nd save, Lara's "tapping" the car with Her left hand. We can go further for a while, Ahmed won't follow Lara. He will chase Lara again after She meets with the next white ninja. If She stands directly before the car, it won't run Her down, but it will push Her for a while.

Valley of Kings: Short trip in TR4's Valley Of The Kings. (Discovered by Jani)

You have to make a running jump from the first save-point. When Lara reaches the heavily slopy wall, press JUMP and heavily press the LEFT button also. If You did it well, Lara will land on a not so slopy rock.

Remarks: We can explore the opposite side of this area too, and then we can return to the jeep. I attached 5 more savegames for this: press ACTION and UP after You loaded the first save, so Lara will climb up, while just press ROLL (END) in the last savegame (or you can RUN too) to slide down the slope, back to the jeep... Desert Railroad - The disappearing small medipack... Load the first save, and you can see how will disappear the small medipack, before Lara could get it. But if you can be fast enough, then Lara can pick up it. If not, then the red tuareg will get this small medipack, altough he is actually on the top of the train. Well, you can see this, when you load the second save... Download(+Patch)

Alexandria: Lara goes upstairs with the shotgun in her hands. After the FMV she still holds it but not in a right way - she can not fire it. (But she can holster it if you hit space.) Download

Coastal Ruins- The 'unreachable' sea-bay...

I think you probably know this one but I didn't find it on Tomb Raider bugok. It's a glitch from TRLR Coastal Ruins level. It's swimming out of the limits glitch (swim in the red area shown at erd_tr4_coastal_ruins_tr_player1.jpg. To get there you'll have to climb on a ledge underwater (glitchpic2.gif first arrow) then move a bit forward and jump up a slope (erd_tr4_coastal_ruins_tr_player2.jpg second arrow) and from there (erd_tr4_coastal_ruins_tr_player3.jpg) you can jump into this water. These bugs are not usual, the first one may not be a bug at all. But I find them rather cool and they provide a great help in defeating the rather tough enemies. :-))

1. At the beginning of the level go through the first door to the left, shoot the vase and pick up the medipack. Bring Lara (by a backflip) to the room that opens from the corridor. She will be attacked by two metal knights but don't worry just rush to the end of the of the corridor, Lara can take some rest there since the rusty guys are too lazy to follow her this far. (Or maybe they are afraid of the dark hence are running back to their well-known room.) You can shoot the baddies from this spot safely. If they run away jump forward to make Lara visible. They will turn back and all you have to do is to jump back to the corner to increase their body-weight with some hot lead. (The pistols are extremely useful archeological equipment.)

When I first got to this room I lost most of my energy and ammo. But then I reminded myself that tough looking enemies can be defeated easily usually . That's how I found this solution. The solution described above may be well-known but I still like it.

2. The rusty horseman caused similar troubles for me.

Prepare your sniper colt for use. From the spot you found yourself after loading the game rush to the secret place 51/70. Be quick, the horseman is after you! Shoot the metal ball and pull up yourself to the secret place. Pick up the stuff and stand to the right side looking towards the room. Time doesn't matter. As you'll see the artificially non-intelligent horseman tries to go to the corner next to a stone block. If he goes away you can make him run back by hanging a bit. If you do it right the horse will be stuck in the corner between the stone block and the wall of the secret place. (In a 45-degree angle, again.) They won't move even if you get next to them. (Although once I managed to release them.) If you go to their left side very close to them the knight will even kick Lara as hitting with his shield wouldn't be enough. (Lara gets mad a bit at this point since she only wanted saluting them and it's not so easy in this noise.) Go to the right side of the horse and run to it's head. Use your pistols and the knight will get off the horse soon. He will try to hit Lara with his axe but she won't receive any damage. It's useful to climb up again, or take some crazy jumps.

Or: From above shoot (around 10 times) at the amulet on his chest with normal arrows using the lasersight and he will get off the horse. Then you can kill him with pistols. Download ......... Download.gif

Lost Libary: This is the show of the rusty knight. He's able to stuck into the corner by himself. The horse doesn't disappoint its owner, so it's parking at its original place. It's not a big problem for the knight to running through his horse, but then how can he sit on it? :-D The 4th savegame shows that place, from where the easiest to kill the rusty knight. Then he will disappear with his horse onto the "iron-knights' eternal hunting-fields". Try the 5th savegame too, because the knight (originally he stucked into his horse - the 4th picture shows this) is "freezed" and he's staying in one place. Shoot some bullets into him by using the pistols. He will disappear, but then he'll get back to the horse, but he won't have his shield anymore. So, we shot that. :-D (Discovered by Jani)

Cleopatra's Palaces (2nd) - The Disappearing Coffers... (Patch is needful!)
New, "never-berore-seen" bug from TR4 again! It's highly recommended to load the saved games, watch all the pictures to understand this bug correctly. As we know, there's a room which contains the "Pharos Knot" artefact, there are two coffers with pickups - a Large Medipack and Explosive Crossbow Bolts -, and they will be accessable, when we blow up those two coffers. But sometimes, the two coffers will be disappearing, and the pickups won't be accessable...! Well, load the first saved game - and check the first picture -, and now shoot into the wall, front of you, with the Crossbow (second picture)! The two coffers, in the small room will explode by the detonation, but their contents won't be accessible! Go now into the small room, check it out (second save and third picture): you won't see and get any pickups! But now, load the third saved game and check the fourth picture! If you blow into the coffers now - fifth picture -, then they will explode, and their contents will be visible and accessable too! Now enter the room, and you can be able to see and get the two pickups too (sixth picture and fourth save)... Maybe the connecting between two rooms caused this bug (see in TR Level Editor)... I experienced this bug, when I blowed up the skeleton warrior, which came to life at that certain wall; so, take care of it, instead blow it up, bait it away from the wall, to blow it up somewhere else, or use the Shotgun! "City Of The Dead" - Exploring the 2nd Secret without using the Nitrous Oxide Cannister... (Patch is needed!) We have a chance to explore the 2nd Secret when we are first in this level, so after this, we don't need to return here for this. Altough we need enough patient and luck for this little plus, because the juming over the deep pit is very hard without the nitro. I don't give you an exact solution, 'cause it's enough hard, instead of this, just check and try the pictures and the savegames...(SYS) Download

Citadel Gate--The respawning locusts. (Sender: Nicky, TRC-Fórum

Description: after triggering the cutscene with the Dragon, but if you don't proceed to the yard where it's standing, if you spend more time than usual in the area before (to the right of the columns where you find some ammo and a medi), and don't proceed any further that this corner, the locusts come to attack you, instead of waiting to attack you further down, around the next corner as they are supposed to. The curious thing is that from the time that they attacked me, I couldn't get rid of them. And when they seemed to get fewer, they attacked in a big swarm again as soon as I approached the aforementioned corner. Not sure if this is actually a bug, or it is supposed to be that way, but still it is weird.

"The Sphinx Complex" - Exploring the Sphinx's left side and Her back... (Patch is needed!) From the Sphinx, we can reach the gate's top, which closes the Sphinx left side, and from there, we can go forward to the Sphinx's left side and to Her back too. But be careful, 'cause there's no way to get Lara back, unless with some "corner bugs", which is all around in this closed area....(SYS) Download

"The Great Piramyd" - Journey into the desert... (Patch is needed!) We can reach the desert from the pyramid's right side, and we can return onto the building, after the journey. So, with this, we can explore the large sandy desert around and front of the pyramid. The screens and the savegames will help and guide you in the discovering...(SYS) Download

Khufu's Queens Pyramids -Another nice journey... (Patch is needed!) It's the level's editors failure again, and it allows Lara to explore some places, what She is not supposed to reach. I can offer the screens and the savegames again, for some studying, 'cause they are helping and explaning everything. With this little journey, we can avoid some giant scorpions and we can easily reach the parts between the small pyramids. But we will meet with several untextured platforms - take care, 'cause many of them are slippery -, and we can sight-seeing through the small pyramids in several places, during the journey. At least, we can reach the large desert after the three small pyramids...(SYS) Download

Khufu's Queen Piramids: The guard is molesting Lara, but we can interpret this like he had arrested Her, and now he's about to show Lara Her cell, let's say down there, in the storeroom what is full of weapons... :) (THX SYS for the text :-) ) You can enhance the scene by using the LOOK button and Flares, whilst the sounds is given. :-)) We can also turn round by using the arrow-key, and then the whole scene become completely different. :-) (discovered by Jani)

Temple of Horus: Like in "Coastal Ruins", this case is the same, because if we throw the torch away, then Lara's burning pants will appear. It wasn't easy to bring it to here from the sarcophagus, but at least there was some lighting. :-) (discovered by Jani)

For the 1st savegame, keep pressing the CTRL-key and climb out. Unfortunately, You can't place Horus' Amulet on Horus by Yourself. After loading the 2nd savegame, draw a weapon, the Uzis for example, and start shooting continuous, and then jump into the hole. In the animation, Lara will be shooting continuous, and She will place the Amulet on Horus while She's holding Her weapon (first two pictures). Then Lara will lower Her weapon (3rd picture). In the 3rd savegame, She isn't able to fall into the hole and She also can't climb up. That's normal. You should try the jumping into the hole with a longer weapon too. When She stops from running, She's acting like a bandmaster. In the 4th savegame, Lara turned out to be in some kind of "continuous mode", because She's fireing continuous, but the ammo isn't decreasing. She's just very noisy. :-)) (discovered by Jani)

Temple Of Horus-- Bugging with the pants: After loading the first savegame, throw the torch by pressing the SPACE-key. Now watch that what You've just done. (1st picture) :-D The pants is underwater, in the 2nd savegame and on the 2nd picture. There's something interesting here, what turns out from the rest savegames and from the 3rd picture. The torch and the pants stop burning under the water. This is logical, of course. :-) The water-theme was based by SYS' idea. (discovered by Jani)
